Part 1: General

Q1: If I am not in the field of science and engineering, can I apply for admission?
A1: Yes, you may apply. Both Thai and international students with strong academic backgrounds in science, engineering, or related fields are welcome. However, you should carefully review the program details and faculty expertise, and clearly demonstrate your motivation to study at VISTEC. Your research interests and proposed topics should be well-prepared and convincingly presented in your Statement of Purpose, as well as during the interview.

Q2: If I am in the last year of my bachelor’s or master’s degree, can I apply for VISTEC admission?
A2: Yes, you may apply while completing your final year of study. However, you are required to submit official proof of degree completion as soon as it becomes available, and no later than 31 July 2026.

Q3: If I do not have English test results (TOEFL, IELTS, TOEFL ITP/IBT, or CU-TEP), can I still apply?
A3: Yes. You may submit other English test results you currently have for the initial application. However, you must provide a valid English test score accepted by VISTEC no later than the interview date. Admission decisions will also consider your overall qualifications, including academic record, research potential, and interview performance.

Q4: Would a Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter be accepted?
A4: Yes, for the application process. The letter must be on official letterhead, signed, and state that English was the primary medium of instruction. You must still submit an official English score by February 28, 2026.

Part 2: Scholarships

Q1: What does the VISTEC full scholarship cover?
A1: The full scholarship covers tuition, monthly living allowance, research support, accommodation, conference fee, overseas expenses, and other academic-related expenses. Students are responsible for electricity and water usage.

Q2: Do all admitted students receive scholarships?
A2: Yes. VISTEC provides full scholarships to all admitted students.

Q3: How long does the scholarship last?
A3: Typically, 2 years for a Master’s and 3–5 years for a PhD, depending on the chosen track.

Q4: Are there any obligations after graduation?
A4: There is no mandatory service requirement. Graduates are encouraged to contribute to science, technology, and innovation while upholding VISTEC’s reputation.

Part 3: Programs & Curriculum

Q1: What graduate programs does VISTEC offer?
A1: VISTEC offers M.Eng. and Ph.D. programs through four schools:

• School of Molecular Science and Engineering (MSE) – Materials Science and Engineering
• School of Energy Science and Engineering (ESE) – Chemical Engineering
• School of Biomolecular Science and Engineering (BSE) – Biomolecular Science and Engineering
• School of Information Science and Technology (IST) – Information Science and Technology

Q2: What is the difference between coursework-based and research-oriented programs?
A2: Coursework-based programs are designed for applicants from non-related fields, while research-oriented programs are for those with strong academic backgrounds. The admissions committee determines the final track during interviews.

Q3: Can I apply for more than one school?
A3: Yes, up to two programs. Indicate your top preference, as you must select only one after the final decision.

Q4: Does VISTEC offer online or distance-learning programs?
A4: No. All programs are on-site. Some courses may be hybrid, and short online courses will be available soon.

Part 4: Application Process

Q1: How do I apply to VISTEC?
A1: Apply online at VISTEC Admission Portal and upload required documents (transcripts, recommendation letters, English test scores, and research statement).

Q2: If some documents are not ready, can I still submit my form?
A2: Yes. You can upload additional documents later, but all fields must be completed before submission. The final deadline is February 15, 2026.

Q3: Would a Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter be accepted?

Q4: Do I have to attach all documents?
A4: Only documents marked with an asterisk (*) are required (Statement of Purpose, CV, Transcript). English proficiency certificates are optional at the initial stage.

Q5: How can I upload my Letter of Recommendation?

A5:First, please ensure that your Letter of Recommendation has been scanned and saved on your personal computer.

To upload the Letter of Recommendation, follow the steps below:

1. Log in to the VISTEC Admission website at https://admission.vistec.ac.th/ using a personal computer (PC).

2. Select “My Application”, then click “View” (the green eye icon).

3. On the next page, click “Edit Application”, which is located at the top-right corner.

4. Scroll down to the Letter of Recommendation section.

5. You will see a pink icon with the referee’s name. Click “Browse” and select the file from your computer.

6. Once the file is successfully uploaded, a notification stating “Upload file complete.” will appear.

7. If the uploaded file is incorrect, you may delete it and upload a new file at this step.

8. You can verify the uploaded file by clicking the blue check icon in front of the referee’s name.

Q6: How are applicants evaluated?
A6: Evaluation is based on academic performance, research potential, recommendation letters, English proficiency, and interview results.

Part 5: Review Process

Q1: I noticed that my referee has not yet submitted the Letter of Recommendation. What should I do?
A1: Please check that you entered your referee’s email address correctly in the application form. If the email address is incorrect, please log in and edit your application form accordingly.

You are also advised to contact your referee directly and kindly ask them to check their inbox, including the spam/junk folder, for the system-generated email.

Q2: Can my referee submit the Letter of Recommendation after the application period has ended?
A2: Yes, if you selected the online recommendation option, your referee may still submit the Letter of Recommendation after the application deadline.

However, if you selected the offline option, the system will not allow submission once the deadline has passed.

Please note that the recommendation letter is one of the supporting documents demonstrating your academic ability and suitability for the program. If the letter is not submitted, your other qualifications should be sufficiently strong for the committee’s consideration in order to be shortlisted.

Part 6: Campus Life

Q1: What kind of accommodation is provided?
A1: On-campus dormitories (shared first-year, single afterward) are covered by the scholarship except utilities.

Q2: What facilities are available?
A2: Laboratories, research centers, libraries, sports, and recreation facilities are available.
